Walker County Humane Society is a nonprofit animal welfare organization. We are proud to serve the people and animals of Walker County with a variety of programs including pets for adoptions, emergency injured animal rescue, spay and neutering cliincs for pets, and educational programs for children of all ages.

We have no affiliation at all with the City of Jasper's Animal Control. They are supported by your tax dollars. We are not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) or with the American SPCA ASPCA). Humane societies and SPCAs are all independent.

Walker County Humane Society strives to match people with animals that fit their lifestyles. We take our mission to care for these animals very seriously, and that includes taking the time to find loving and responsible homes. If you don't see what you are looking for, we encourage you to continue checking regularly with our office. We receive over 5,000+ dogs and cats per year. Our facilities have enough space for about 55-60 animals at any given time. Our goal is to increase our adoption rate and find loving home for the dogs and cats boarded at our facility.

Due to the number of animals that we receive and find homes for every day, we cannot guarantee that specific animals listed on these sites will be available when you visit our facilities. We are also unable to hold animals by phone, fax or e-mail. The best way to find a new furry companion is by visiting us in person - after all, you might be about to meet your new best friend!

When surrendering an animal, we request that the surrendering party bring them in an hour of operation for that particular day. Example: If we close at 4:30, please have them here no later than 3:30-4:00. We need time to evaluate each animal to determine its health and disposition. Also, we must evaluate our available space for each incoming animal.
